Misadventures of a Rookie (Misadventures #11)(26)

Reaching up, she stroked her thumb along my bottom lip as her eyes met mine. “I should hate you.”

“Why? It takes too much energy.” I don’t know how I got the words out. “Giving in is so much easier.”

Her eyes darkened. “Have you given in?”

I nodded, my head moving like a fucking bobblehead. “From the moment I saw you.”

She sucked her lip between her teeth. “I have a secret.”

I couldn’t breathe. I really couldn’t as I moved my mouth into her hand. “I can keep a secret.”

She leaned closer and pressed her mouth against her thumb so that slim digit was the only thing between our lips. “Maybe I can’t wait for Saturday.”

Yup, fuck behaving.

Taking her by the elbow, I pulled her arm down, and her lips fell into mine, her chest pressing to me as I wrapped my arms around her waist and held her tight against me. She pressed her hands against my chest, but I wasn’t letting her go yet. I couldn’t. When I swept my tongue along her lips, she opened her mouth so our tongues could play in the most stimulating but rewarding way. Pressing my nose into hers, I slid my hands down her back. I grabbed that ass I adored so that I could press my hardness into her soft center.

She gasped against my mouth, and I couldn’t help it… I smiled. She drove me absolutely wild. When I pulled back, her eyes fluttered open, and boy, were they dark with lust. Nipping at her bottom lip, I licked it before I whispered, “I don’t want to wait.”

Swallowing hard, she pushed her hands into my chest, putting unwanted space between us. With a little gleam in her eye and a smile on her face that basically knocked me on my ass, she said, “Well, you’re gonna have to.”

I almost protested, but then out of the corner of my eye, I saw a parent and child walking toward us. Looking back to Bo, I shook my head. “Unfair.”

She pursed her lips, waving me off as she bent down to hug the child.

Needing more than a few minutes, I went to do laps…before I pushed the kid out of the way and then took her coach and fucked her, hard, against the wall.

My mom was pretty laid-back and crazy, but even she would frown on that.

Chapter Fifteen

Bo

“You’re a complete idiot.”

Staring back at my reflection, I looked great. Sexy, even. Over a cropped black tank was a black lace overlay that reached to midthigh, where it met my maroon shorts. Though I had that stupid boot on one foot, on my other foot was a cute strappy black sandal that wrapped up my leg to my knee. My hair was curled to perfection, trailing down my shoulders to the tops of my breasts. I wore more makeup than I usually did, making my bright-blue eyes even brighter. I was even impressed by them. My lips were a dark maroon color that I had fallen in love with at the store, but as I stared back at my reflection, I couldn’t help but shake my head.

“Why are you trying so hard? You know what’s going to happen. You’ll go out to dinner, he’ll fuck you stupid, and then you’ll come home. Alone. And be alone because that’s what you want. So why? Explain to me why you did this. Are you getting your hopes up? For what? You don’t want this. I really thought you learned your lesson.”

Turning from the mirror, I put my wallet and lipstick in my clutch. I couldn’t believe I was trying so hard. I didn’t even realize what I was doing until two hours had passed and I was standing in front of my mirror, but I had done it. I had gotten all gussied up for Gus.

Like a complete dumbass.

As I reached for my phone, my stomach was churning with nervousness, which I didn’t understand. There was nothing to be nervous about. Shit, what was wrong with me? This wasn’t me. I didn’t get nervous around guys anymore. I had no reason to. Guys didn’t matter. Or at least that’s what I told myself over and over again.

As I went to tuck my phone into my purse, it started to ring with a FaceTime call. It was my mom. Swallowing hard, I answered it, plastering on a big smile as she came into view. “Hey, honey!”

“Hey, Mom. Where you at?” I asked when I noticed she was outside.

“Davis has a game tonight! I told you I’d FaceTime you.”

I wanted to groan. God, I was an idiot. I had forgotten. Crap. “That’s right. Let me see.”

But her brows were pulled together, frustration on her face. “Now, Bo—”

“I’m sorry. I’m very busy, and I forgot. Don’t get on me, please.”

“He’s—”

“Mom, seriously,” I warned, shaking my head. “I’m sorry I forgot. Just let me see him.”

She didn’t want to let me see him. She wanted to punish me just because she could and it’s what she always did. I could see it all over her face. But then my phone screen filled with twenty little boys on the ice.

I had no clue which one was Davis. “Which number?” I asked.

“Sixty-two.”

When I saw him, my chest warmed with emotion. He was the smallest out there and couldn’t skate a lick. “Is he the youngest out there?”

“Yeah. He doesn’t turn five until next month.”

I knew that, but I couldn’t help smiling. He was so little. “He looks good.”
