“I don’t know how I got through the last week without this.” He moved between her legs, his big hands spreading her wide. “I don’t know how I’ll get through life without this. I’m utterly addicted to you.”

She was addicted to him, to his touch and how he made her feel. Why allow one mistake to take that all away from her? His cock slid over her clitoris as he rubbed himself all over her wet pussy, preparing himself.

His eyes were perfectly serious as he looked down at her. “I shouldn’t say this. I shouldn’t make this harder on you, but please don’t leave me.”

He thrust up, joining them in the most precious of ways. Connecting them body and soul. His cock filled her, stretching her and making her aware of him. She reached for him, wanting nothing more than to be in this moment with him. One hand touched her face, cupping her cheek. He stared down at her while his hips moved, finding a rhythm. He drove her higher and higher, his words echoing in her brain.

Don’t leave me.

How could she leave him? How could she leave this? She wrapped her legs around him, working with him, not wanting to lose the feeling of him deep inside her.

He stared down at her as though trying to memorize something. As though he wasn’t sure she would listen to his pleas and he wanted some memory of her.

She reached up, touching that gorgeous face. His eyes closed briefly and when they opened again, she saw the pure willpower there.

“I love you.” He picked up the pace, his hands on her hips, cock driving home. “I love you. I’ll say it until you believe it and if you decide to leave, well, I can still show up on your doorstep. I won’t ever give up on us. I thought I was wrong for you, but I’m not. No one in the world is going to love you the way I do.”

Somewhere in the background she heard a phone ring, but she didn’t care. The rest of the world could go to hell. All that mattered was the warmth he poured into her as he thrust up and pleasure coursed through her. It invaded her veins and took over her every thought until there was nothing in the world that mattered more than him.

He shuddered over her, holding on tight as he gave in. She loved how open he was when he let go and gave her everything he had.

He fell back into the chair behind him, but not before grasping her hand and taking her with him. They landed in a heap, the chair groaning under their combined weight, but like everything at Guidry’s, that sucker held solid. This place and family were weird and crazy and strong.

She could be a part of this. She could belong here. There was still a little time to think. They were normal again and she could use these last few days to make her decision.

“You didn’t even get your clothes off.” She wanted to touch him, trace his scars and kiss his warm skin.

“Too busy. Needed you too much. Lisa,” he began.

What should she say to him? It was too soon. The ache was still there in her heart, but she also knew they couldn’t be done.

The blare of the house phone broke through their intimate moment and Remy groaned.

“It’s probably my brother. He won’t stop if he needs something. My cell is on the charger in my office, but he’ll call any number he thinks I’ll answer.” He kissed the top of her head. “I’ll go unplug the fucker. If he’s caught at some chick’s house and needs a ride, he can Uber.”

She didn’t want to lose the moment, but she scrambled off Remy’s lap, reaching for her undies. If she was going to seriously think about becoming a member of this family, she had to take care of even the most obnoxious Guidry. “Answer it. I can’t stand the thought of him desperately trying to get in touch with you. You can’t leave him. Do you even get Uber out here?”

He fastened his jeans. “You’re too soft hearted, Daley. And I’ve heard old Jacques tried to sign up until the company told him his riding lawn mower didn’t qualify. Don’t laugh. It’s a real nice one.” The phone started up again and Remy groaned. “I’ll be right back and we can take this upstairs. I’ve got some toys I want to play with.”

And they had a serious discussion to have. They could do it naked and wrapped up in each other. She watched as he hustled back to the office.

How could she leave him?

She put on her jeans and dragged her T-shirt over her head in case that really was Zep in need of a ride. Although knowing she was likely safe, Remy might not insist she go with him. Of course, it wasn’t like she didn’t have a choice. She could simply slide into the front of the truck beside him and he wouldn’t leave her behind.

She sighed and straightened up the table. If he was going to end every night by throwing her on some random table, she’d better get good at putting everything back together. First she wiped it all down, spraying anti-bac everywhere. She carefully reset the basket, making sure they hadn’t broken any of the condiment jars. Settling the menu back in place, she stopped and really looked at the back of the menu for the first time.

Guidry’s didn’t have some fancy menu like Top that changed every day and got printed on heavy cardstock. These menus had been printed on regular paper and laminated. The front announced all the options for burgers, gumbo, jambalaya, and the plethora of meats Michel could throw in a fryer. But the back was all about history. She stared at the pictures. There was one of a couple in a black and white photo standing in front of a smaller Guidry’s. The bar had been roughly half the space and incidental to the wharf. The couple had their arms around each other, smiling proudly in front of their business baby.
