Big Tag wrapped an arm around his wife. “We should have them more often. Family is too important to let it drift away. Time and distance, those are our real enemies. Come on, Charlie. Let’s show them how a tall white dude with absolutely no rhythm does it.”

Charlotte was laughing as her husband led her off.

Remy leaned over and kissed his wife. “How about we show them how the Cajuns do it, chèrie?”

“We definitely do it with style,” she said as he started for the dance floor. “Did he ask you to come back on a limited basis?”

So Charlotte had known the plan. “He did indeed, and I accepted.”

“Good,” she said. “I know you’ve missed it. Don’t get me wrong. I know you love the wharf, but staying connected to your old world is good, too.”

He took her in his arms and danced, surrounded by old friends and new. But she was the whole world and he wouldn’t have it any other way.
