Vipers and Virtuosos (Monsters & Muses, #2)(105)
“How bad does it hurt?” he asks, discarding his towel and pressing the head of his cock against me.
Shifting, I spread my legs wider, answering silently. We groan into each other’s mouths as he pushes in, and it throws me momentarily—as it always does—how right it feels for our bodies to connect like this.
When he fucks me, it’s a religious experience. Something ethereal and eye-opening that leaves me gasping for breath and begging for more, all in tandem.
Every time, it feels like coming home.
And maybe you’re not supposed to find that in other people, but I can’t imagine what a lonely existence it must be to leave your heart with empty buildings only.
I happen to like that my home has a heartbeat.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
This was a hard one to write.
Normally, I’ll restart a book a handful of times as I’m fleshing out and learning my characters, and once I hit a groove, things click into place. It took me a long time to get to that point with V&V—I must have over twenty different drafts sitting in my Google Drive graveyard.
Part of the reason it was so difficult was how deeply I connected with Riley, on so many levels. Her internal and external struggles are some that I have personal experience with (though maybe not to the same degree), and so writing her was both cathartic and emotionally draining.
But her story needed to be told, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. Riley and Aiden were so much fun to write, and I am already sad to be leaving them.
As always, none of this is possible without a whole host of people behind me. I’ll make these quick, and try not to use the word “y’all” so much—you know, since I’m a legitimate published author, and all.
To my family: I’d never have gotten this far without your support over the years. Thank you for believing in me, even when you’re not sure you should.
To Emily: my best friend, my soul sister, the person who calls me out on my BS but is also always on my side. Without a doubt, I would not be where I am today without you. Thank you for being the best human I’ve ever known, and for making me a better person. Love you the most. Can’t wait for champagne in the Smokies.
To Jackie: thank you for being more organized than me, all your hype, and for keeping my life in check. Sorry for all the times I leave your messages on read.
To Cat: thank you for being a creative wizard and for bringing my cover concepts to life. No one could have made this series as beautiful as you.
To Ellie and Rosa: thank you for making my words pretty and for not firing me. I promise to one day get a manuscript to you on time.
To Sav’s Sirens and my ARC team: thank you for your constant excitement and support, and for being the official hype squads for each release and new project. You guys are the best.
And lastly, to every reader: literally none of this is possible without you. I’m forever grateful for every single one of you. Thank you for allowing me to continue on doing my favorite thing in the world by writing these stories.
