Untouched (Bay Falls High, #1)(62)

“Beth…”

“I looked for you,” she said. She looked ready to cry. “Denny got pissed at me too. Because I promised he and I would spend the night hanging out. But no… I got sucked into the messed up world of Tinsley.”

I closed my mouth and just stared, giving her the chance to rip into me.

I basically deserved every word she said.

Beth growled and shook her head.

She spun around and walked away.

I let her storm off.

Before I could shovel a little more guilt on my shoulders, I felt someone bump into my shoulder.

“Hey, crazy bitch,” Gi said.

“Hey.”

“What’s wrong?”

I looked down the hallway and couldn’t find Beth.

“Nothing,” I said. “Where’s Iris?”

“Dead.”

“What?”

Gi laughed. “Feeling dead. She’s playing sick.”

“Too much dancing?”

“Yeah… dancing…”

“Hey. Crazy idea.”

“Let’s hear it.”

“Iris is our friend, right?”

“Yeah,” Gi said.

“We should go check on her.”

“Tinsley Ditkiss… are you suggesting we skip class?”

“First off, if you ever use my last name again I’ll get a screwdriver with your name on it. And, second, yes… let’s leave this place behind.”

Gi leaned toward me. “Are you sure you’re allowed to?”

“What does that mean?” I asked.

“Turn around, Ti.”

I turned really fast.

Through the heads bobbing and walking by, I saw Pres at the far end of the hall.

Staring right at me.

Then I saw Kip standing against a locker, arms folded.

My head slowly followed back to Pres and kept going.

And then there was Barr.

Leaning against the corner of the hallway, a hand in his pocket.

All three.

Eyes on me.

I bit my lip and looked at Gi again.

“Yeah, Gi, let’s get out of here…”

Iris was wrapped up tight in a dark purple blanket that was bigger than her entire bed. Her dark hair was sprawled behind her, knotty and messy from her long night. Her room was almost just as dark too. There was one small light coming from the bathroom. I walked into the bathroom and cringed at the sight.

It was trashed.

It was pretty clear that Iris came home and got sick.

From the sink to the floor to the toilet.

The most I offered to help clean was to flush the toilet.

I shut the bathroom door on my way and shook my head at Gi.

“That’s harsh,” I whispered.

“Yeah,” she said. “I was here when it happened.”

“You didn’t clean it?”

“In what world am I going to stick my hands into someone else’s puke? She’s got help here.”

Oh. Right. Because you’re all fucking rich and don’t have to do anything.

“I can barely see you,” I said.

“Watch this,” Gi said. “She’s going to get pissed.”

Gi walked to the nightstand and I thought she was going to turn on the lamp. Instead, she pressed a button or something because out of nowhere five sets of curtains or windows or whatever started to lift up.

I gasped.

I mean, it was kind of cool.

And as the mechanical curtains went up the sun flooded the room.

The room went from pitch black to bright and sunny in a few seconds.

Iris stirred and pulled the comforter over her head.

“Fuck this,” Gi said.

She grabbed the comforter and ripped it off Iris’s body.

She was in the same shirt from the beach house party but she wasn’t wearing any pants. Thankfully she was wearing panties or else we would have gotten quite the show.

Her eyes peeled open and she lifted her middle finger at us. “Get out of here, whores.”

“Come on,” I said. I shook the bed. “You’re going to be late for school. We have to get to school. Come on, Iris. Come on. Hurry. Wake up.”

Gi started to laugh and Iris swung her foot at me.

I caught her kick and started to pull at her.

She grabbed for the sheets and groaned. “I fucking hate you, Ti.”

“No you don’t. You hate yourself.”

I pulled her to the edge of the bed and she slowly tried to sit up.

Her hair looked like she stuck her finger into an outlet.

She rubbed her face.

She stretched her neck.

“Where the hell did you end up?” she asked.

“Kissing Pres on the beach,” Gi said.

“What?” I snapped.

“What?” Gi asked. “You think we wouldn’t find out?”

“Who told you that?”

“You’re fucking wild, Ti,” Iris said. “All things considered, you know?”

“Yeah. Wait. No. What do you mean all things considered?”

Iris shook her head and laughed. “They’re going to eat you alive if you stay close.”

“Or maybe you’ll have the greatest first time of your life,” Gi said. “Those three… one night…”
