Sweet Retribution (Rydeville High Elite #3)(80)

A half hour later, we are done, and I’m on edge as we conduct one last inspection of the room making sure nothing is out of place and that we’re leaving no evidence behind.

Kai pulls the door closed behind us, informing Xavier so he can reset the alarm. My ears rejoice when the blaring alarm stops ringing, and everyone sighs in relief.

“Thank fuck for that,” Jackson says, rubbing at his temples as we race along the corridor toward the elevator. “My head is throbbing from the noise.”

“Stay alert,” Kai warns, as the elevator opens into Father’s office. But it’s as we left it, and the guard is still conked out on the ground, his chest heaving as loud snores rip from his mouth.

“Give it to me,” Kai says to Jackson, flipping his palm up. Jackson removes a slim rectangular box from his back pocket, handing it over without question. Kai opens it, removing a needle and a syringe.

“I still hate this,” I mumble, remembering the argument we got into last night with them and Rick. Xavier and I were vehemently against shooting the guy full of heroin, but it was four against two, so we lost that battle. If Drew had been there, I know he would’ve voted for this plan too.

“Would you rather we put a bullet in his skull?” Kai says, eyeing him as he crouches over the unsuspecting unconscious guy.

“Of course not, but this could kill him too.”

“It’s not a lethal dose, and Rick got it off a reputable source so it’s as pure as you’ll find anywhere in Boston. He’ll be strung out when the shift changes, and he’ll be fired. Even if he attempts to mouth off, no one will believe him. And if your father is suspicious and he checks the camera feed, he won’t find anything amiss. We’re covered, but only if we do this. Otherwise, he’ll blab to everyone that the boss’s daughter gave him an iced tea and that’s the last thing he remembers.” I look away as Kai prepares to inject the needle into a vein in his arm. “I don’t like it either,” Kai adds. “But this needs to happen.”

We leave the guy on the floor after Kai has shot him up, returning to my old bedroom with everyone constantly looking over our shoulders.

“That was almost too easy,” Sawyer admits when we exit the tunnel into the woods, heading toward the SUV.

“Don’t fucking jinx us, man,” Jackson says, slapping him on the back.

“It was easy because we planned well, we have mad skills, and we’re fucking badass,” Xavier says, smirking like the cat that got the cream.

Sawyer rolls his eyes. “Even the best laid plans run into unforeseen obstacles.”

“Relax, man.” Kai wraps his hand around mine as we walk the last few feet to the car. “We pulled it off, and we’re walking away with enough evidence to bury the bastard and a lot of the high-ranking elite. This is a good day.” He swings me up, spinning me around.

“Don’t get too cocky,” Sawyer says, bringing us back down to earth. “Never forget who we are dealing with.”

CHAPTER THIRTY

When we get back to the house, we all collapse into bed despite the temptation to check out the tapes. We need to grab some sleep because we’ve got school in the morning. Although we all have enough credits to graduate early, we need to go about business as usual so as not to draw attention.

Getting to sleep beside Kai again is heavenly, and as I snuggle into his side, sliding my leg between his, it doesn’t take long to fall into a deep sleep.

I’m woken the next morning with wandering hands roaming my naked body. Kai brushes his lips against my inner thigh, and I jerk under his expert touch. “Good morning, baby,” he murmurs across my heated skin before his tongue flicks out, licking a line up and down my slit.

A needy moan escapes my lips. “It is a good morning,” I agree, arching my back as his tongue works in tandem with his fingers inside my pussy. He has magic fingers and a magic tongue, and I’m already so wet for him.

“I need to be inside you, firecracker,” he says, surging to his knees.

“I’m not complaining,” I say, pinning him with lust-drenched eyes.

Wasting no time, he parts my thighs wider before thrusting inside me in one confident move. I instantly perk up. My mind might still be sleepy, but my body is fully awake, and he slides in and out of my slick channel with ease. Circling my legs around his waist, I dig my heels into his ass and lift my hips, meeting him thrust for thrust. His lips glide up and down my body, worshiping every inch of bare skin as he rocks me into oblivion.

After we’ve showered and dressed in our uniforms, we make our way downstairs holding hands.

Xavier and Sawyer are in the kitchen, heads bent over their laptops, furiously tapping away.

“Morning!” I say cheerily, and Xavier lifts his head, blowing me a kiss. Kai deposits me at the kitchen table before moving to the coffee pot. “How long have you guys been up?”

“Not long,” Sawyer says without looking up. “We’re just checking the camera feeds from Chez Manning to ensure everything is good.”

“And is it?” Kai asks, handing me a mug before claiming the seat beside me.

“Yep,” Xavier says. “Your friend downstairs was carted off in an ambulance at six a.m., and I’m watching email communications between your father’s head of security and the company he used to recruit him. He’s toast. I think we got away with it.”
