Only Mine (Honey Mountain #5)(25)
“Or maybe he just wanted to kiss you.”
“Well, he won’t get that chance again. He had me where he wanted me, and then he got all huffy and mad. No freaking way. He will not get inside my head. A Mink is more savage than a Wolf anyway, right?” I took another big swig, and the cool bubbles completely relaxed me.
“I thought he called you Minx?”
“Isn’t it the same thing?” I asked over a mouthful of strawberries.
Damn. Bubble baths with berries and champagne were my new favorite things.
My sister tried to talk over her laughter. “No. A mink is part of the weasel family. I think he’s been calling you a minx, which is a cunning, flirtatious girl.”
My sister was a teacher and the queen of vocabulary.
“Hmmm… neither option is spectacular. But I guess I’d rather be a cunning, flirtatious girl than a weasel.”
More laughter.
“I miss you,” she said. “When are you coming home?”
“I’ll be home soon for Halloween. I can’t wait to see Little Bee, Jackson, Hadley, and Paisley in their costumes. You can come here before then if you want.”
She sighed. “School’s crazy busy at the moment. And Ledger and I have to be at the house so much now because it’s crunch time. But I’ll see you soon. Call me tomorrow.” She paused and giggled when Ledger shouted hello into the phone.
“Hey there, brother-in-law.”
He and I chatted for a little bit before my sister came back on the line.
“All right. I’m going to go. Love you.”
“Love you.”
I ended the call and took another sip as I thought about what had just happened with Wolf before setting the bottle on the side of the tub. The way he’d pressed himself against me. The way his lips had felt against mine, even if it had just been a graze. How his fingers caressed the side of my face. I’d never wanted someone more, had I? My hand slipped down my belly and settled between my legs. I let my head fall back and closed my eyes while I thought about what it would feel like to have him right here in this tub. My fingers grazed over my most sensitive area.
Desire flooded.
And I let myself go there.
Thinking of how his lips would feel on mine.
His hands on my breasts.
Pleasure was building, and I couldn’t stop it if I wanted to. I could almost feel his mouth on mine. Feel his desire for me even now.
A fantasy with the enemy was fine, right?
I bit down on my bottom lip as sensation built.
A blistering orgasm ripped through my body, and my breaths came hard and fast as I came to grips with the fact that I’d just fantasized about the man I despised.
Maybe that’s all I needed to get Wolf Wayburn out of my head.
A release of sorts.
And now, I’d be ready to take on anything he wanted to throw my way.

Monday morning came fast. I’d barely left the apartment on Sunday as I’d spent most of the day working. I peeked my head out a few times to see if Dylan was around, but she’d been quiet.
I’d fucked up when I’d dropped her off. I’d been putting space there because this attraction was dangerous. I’d kept my distance the last week we’d been traveling, only seeing her when I absolutely had to.
She fucking worked for me, and this would only complicate things.
It was just an attraction.
I could deal with it.
But I’d actually missed her this weekend after spending so much time together these last couple of weeks. I’d missed her annoying questions and sarcasm.
But I’d get over it.
We were quiet on the drive to work today as we had both texted Gallan within minutes of one another, so he put us on a group text. But we didn’t acknowledge one another there aside from letting Gallan know we were ready to be picked up. Apparently, she was now avoiding me, too, as she’d barely said more than a short hello.
Today, we were having lunch with my father and Roger to go over everything that had happened on our trip.
Well, aside from all the sexual tension and fucked-up pranks we’d pulled.
And tonight, I was having dinner with Sabine. My sister had a way of grounding me. She was bringing takeout and wanted to fill me in on her new boyfriend.
That’s the distraction that I needed.
Dylan had been given an office two doors down from mine, and I heard laughter coming from there and made my way over. I paused in the doorway to see my brother, Sebastian, in the chair across from her desk, flirting his ass off as she bellowed out in laughter.
Of course.
He was the fucking funny brother.
The life of the party.
The dude didn’t have a serious bone in his body.
“Excuse me. Am I interrupting?” I said, trying to hide my irritation.
Sebastian was a player, and Dylan was a beautiful woman. He’d do what he could to take his shot.
I knew him well enough to know that.
Dylan looked up, and her shoulders stiffened when she saw me. “Hello, boss. What can I do for you?”
Such a smart-ass.
“Ah… I see someone is making sure you know that he’s large and in charge. The big, hairy tuna, am I right?” Seb barked out a laugh.
