Mothered (89)

Given the difficulty of living alone through a pandemic, I would be remiss in my gratitude if I didn’t credit my cat, Tilly-Leguin, for keeping me sane with her warm and fuzzy companionship. While the rest of us were wondering what the hell was going on, my cat was living her best life in our new house, watching squirrels and birds and deer out the window and running like a lunatic up and down the stairs. She is the best nap buddy ever. And in the spirit of managing #PandemicLife, I also owe thanks to Carrie Mitchell, teacher and choreographer extraordinaire, and the virtual Happy Tappers Club. What do you do when you’re alone in a new house during a pandemic? Take up tap dancing!

I couldn’t continue to publish books without the support of readers, librarians, and enthusiastic booksellers. Thank you to Pamela Klinger-Horn for her early and supportive presence in my career. Thank you to my friends at my local bookstores: Mystery Lovers Bookshop, Riverstone Books, Penguin Bookshop, and White Whale Bookstore. And last but not least, thank you to my fellow authors for generously blurbing my books (I’m pretty sure I haven’t thanked you enough!).

My brain broke sometime in 2020 . . . I’m sure I’m forgetting to thank someone—is it you?
