Antsy blinked. So did the woman. Then, slowly, the woman began to smile. “The morning dew told me we might have a new student arriving today,” she said. “Come on inside, dear, and we’ll start getting you registered. And don’t worry—the only writing above my door is what I put there. You’re safe here at the school.”
Hesitantly, Antsy returned her smile and stepped inside as the woman moved out of the way to let her pass.
This time, when the door closed, it didn’t sound like an ending.
It sounded like the beginning of something new.
