I Married A Dragon (Prime Mating Agency)(70)

“Maeve?! When? How?” Kaida exclaimed, stunned.

“I identified the species and planets that prepared the dishes you liked, but I didn’t know their location. She not only provided me with the names of the best restaurants for each meal, but also with the specific coordinates so that I could portal directly there.”

Kaida’s eyes widened so much, they appeared on the verge of popping out of her head. “Holy cow! You mean you actually went to each planet to get these?!”

I gave her a slightly offended look. “Of course! Did you think I would settle for nothing than the best for my Ejaya?”

“You’re crazy!” she whispered, awe and disbelief etched on her face.

I smiled. “For you, yes.”

She batted her eyelashes and lowered a gaze with a soft, slightly embarrassed smile while her cheeks heated. It always warmed my chest to see that kind of blushing shyness from her, especially considering how wild she and I got at night.

“You’re really too sweet for your own good,” she said, cutting into one of the strange meats before her.

I had tried a few of Kaida’s cooked dishes in the past. I would never get used to what I considered the charred taste of the meat, the weird spices and preparation. Just give me my meat, raw and bloody.

Watching my female eat things she loved always cracked me up. The faces she made, her delighted moans, or just the way she licked her fork to catch a last taste was just hilarious. I would never tire of providing for her. The Gods willing, I’d one day be providing for our younglings as well.

We chatted amiably while she ate, and I sipped on fermented beverages. I couldn’t help another chuckle when Kaida finally gave up. Too full to eat another bite, she cast a miserable glance at the bounty of food remaining.

“Don’t be sad, my Kaida. We can bring the rest home for you to eat later,” I said, amused. I rose to my feet and started packing everything back up in the temperature-controlled containers. “No! You do not help with this. Your only task right now is to get rid of those pesky clothes.”

Surprise gave way to understanding when she cast a glance at the river.

I shook my head with a smile. “No. We’re not going into the Dancing Water just yet. First, we’re going to visit the Sighing Chamber.”

“The Sighing Chamber?” she asked with curiosity, while discarding her clothes.

I grinned. “You’ll find out soon enough.”

She glared at me, knowing I was deliberately teasing her. After she finished folding her clothes on top of the table, Kaida let me carry her towards the edge of the plateau. Her gaze flicked between the round hammers and flask clutched in my hands, and the bubbling water below the plateau.

“What are you going to do with those?” she asked warily.

My grin broadened. “You’ll see.”

“You’re insufferable,” she whined.

“And you’re too impatient. Savor the moment, my Kaida.”

She gave me a baleful glare. “You know I’m curious. And… Oh! I hadn’t noticed this!” she exclaimed, noting at last the staircase at the end of the left wall of the cave, right before the two-meter drop to the water.

“I can’t wait to see what you think,” I said, stepping down the stairs.

The wall in front of the landing forced me to turn left, revealing a large natural room under the area we’d just been sitting in.

“What the heck is this?” Kaida asked in an awed whisper.

“The Sighing Chamber,” I said proudly as I gazed at the room. “The ground is actually an organic membrane that naturally grows in this environment. It requires very specific conditions to thrive. Beneath it, there are vrojian rocks, a sort of hybrid mix of volcanic rocks and shadow obsidian. The heat from the rocks illuminates the membrane and steam trapped beneath it makes it undulate like this. And this soft whistling sound you hear is the sighs from some of the steam escaping around the edges.”

“Okay, this is really cool! It wasn’t mentioned in the stuff I read about the Spirits Cave.”

I gave her an indulgent smile. “That’s because not every Spirit Cave has a Chamber. As you’re about to discover, the membrane isn’t the only one to do the sighing in here.”

Kaida’s eyes widened, then smoldered. She gave the room an assessing look, clearly trying to imagine what kind of naughty things I had in mind. I grinned and put her down on her feet. Her lips parted in response to the warm feel of the undulating membrane beneath us.

“Hmmm, this is nice,” she whispered, looking at the moving floor.

“And it’s about to get nicer,” I replied in a similarly hushed tone, my voice full of promises.

I placed the hammers on the ground, poured some of the massage oil into my palms and started applying it on her. Kaida opened her mouth, likely to ask what I was doing, but I silenced her with a kiss. She melted into it, allowing me to have my way. By the Gods! Her scaleless skin was already naturally soft, but with the oil, it became like the finest silk.

When the first moan rose from her throat as I fondled her breasts, I couldn’t help a chuckle. I would never tire of how responsive my female remained to my touch after all these months, and despite how insatiable I remained.

Breaking the kiss with much reluctance, I turned Kaida around, my lips tracing a path down her back seconds before my hands applied oil on it. It wasn’t meant to make her skin slicker for a massage, but to enhance the benefits and effects of the membrane on her.
