I Married A Dragon (Prime Mating Agency)(50)
Nero released me as Cedros helped me out of the bed and drew me into his embrace. The shadow dweller zapped our cheeks in what I believe to be a kiss goodbye, then I felt a cool draft, like with a shift phase, and he disappeared.
Chapter 14
Kaida
Standing next to Cedros, I finally noticed the new scratches he’d earned himself fighting the latest aqrat invasion. Although he wasn’t showing it, I knew him enough now to recognize the tension in his body that betrayed his pain as he went to pick up my discarded blaster.
“So, should I worry about Nero playing pranks on us in the middle of the night?” I asked as I got rid of the pants of my combat suit.
Cedros laughed. “No. Nero has gone back to the void.”
“That cold draft we felt before he vanished?” I asked for confirmation.
“Yes. He can easily phase back into the void. Leaving it is a bit more demanding for him on his own, especially if going to an unknown destination,” Cedros explained while bringing my weapon back to its container. “He’s gone hunting and feeding. He will be back in the morning.”
“Good! I don’t need a heart attack in the middle of the night.”
He snorted, his eyes darkening as he looked at me. The heat in his gaze made my stomach flutter.
“Hang on, I’ll be right back,” I said, rushing into the hygiene room to recover my vest that Nero had yanked away from me earlier.
When I returned to the bedroom, Cedros’s gaze was still weighing heavily on me. I placed my uniform back in its place before turning back towards him, my mouth going dry under his intensity. He frowned at my bikini bottom. I usually only removed it now when we went to bed for the night. Technically, he only needed a cuddle to help him heal, but it could take until well into the night.
Not making a fuss, I removed it, feeling almost intimidated by Cedros’s expression.
“You’re staring,” I said at last.
“Your body is surprisingly pleasing to the eye,” he said matter-of-factly.
My brows shot up. “Surprisingly?”
He nodded. “I didn’t think I’d ever find a human attractive.”
“Sheesh. Really?” I asked, unsure how to take that.
“You have straight legs, a swollen chest, a flat face, no horns, no tail, and no scales. And yet…”
I chuckled in disbelief. Had he not openly shown his attraction to me previously, I might have been offended, despite the factual truth of his critical assessment.
“Damn, you sure know how to flatter a woman,” I said teasingly, while approaching him.
He smiled. “I mean it, and not maliciously. Your appearance is odd to a Derakeen. And yet, everything about you is so harmonious, so soft, and delicate. You are a work of art. I can’t stop looking at you, my Kaida. You are a feast for the eyes,” he said, drawing me into his embrace.
I melted against him, my heart filling to bursting while he purred with delight as contact with me kicked his hormones into overdrive to mend him.
“Wow, you have the best comebacks. Nobody has ever said anything so sweet to me. Nobody sees me like you do.”
“Because they’re blind,” he said softly, flapping his wings to take us to the center of the immense bed.
Instead of cuddling and rubbing all over me, as was his wont after a battle, Cedros started kissing and caressing me. Although his palm roamed over my breast, his touch wasn’t bold. It was tender, respectful, and loving. I would never tire of kissing him. I loved that despite being forked, his tongue wasn’t narrow like that of a snake, but almost similar in shape and size to a human’s. Its rougher texture against mine gave me extra sensation that always had me wet in seconds.
Cedros broke the kiss and finally buried his face in my neck. I bent my back, giving him better access while he nipped and licked the spots he knew to be sensitive, making me shiver. He emitted a purring growl, and his hands became a bit more possessive on me.
He inhaled deeply and lifted his head to look at me. “I love how aroused you become for me. The smell of your desire drives me insane. I want you, too, my Kaida.”
My stomach flip-flopped, and I licked my lips nervously. His still absentmindedly caressing my body made it hard to focus.
“What are you saying?” I whispered. “What are you asking me?”
He smiled and shook his head. “I’m not asking you for anything, my Ejaya. But I can offer to relieve your need, if you wish me to.”
“You never have to wait for my permission on that. Unless we’re in public, if you’ve got me aroused, then I want you to do something about it,” I said, shocked how liberating it felt to be able to speak openly about my desires without feeling embarrassed.
The slit of his pupils widened for a split second before narrowing again as he looked at me with uncertainty.
“Are you certain, my Kaida? I do not want to presume and—”
“If you get frisky, and I’m actually not in the mood, despite my arousal, I promise I will tell you,” I said, interrupting him. “But the chances of that happening are pretty slim, unless I’m PMSing.”
“PMSing?” he asked, confused.
“It’s part of a human female’s reproductive cycle. For a few days every month, we bleed.”
