I Married A Dragon (Prime Mating Agency)(37)

“Really? You’ll help?”

“Of course,” he replied, as if that was self-evident.

“You’re freaking awesome!” I exclaimed, throwing myself into his arms.

He burst out laughing and drew me onto his lap, immediately rubbing his face in my neck. His scales tickled me again, making me giggle.

“I will list all the incidents that took me to battle off-world, and will ask my brothers to do the same,” Cedros offered.

“That would be fantastic! Any chance they could include the times, dates, origin and destination of the portals? Well, to the best of their recollection, of course.”

“Yes, my Kaida. We will provide as much detail as we can recall.”

“Oh!” I exclaimed, struck by a sudden idea. “Have any of the portals led to the shadow obsidian mines, or originated from them?”

He shook his head. “Not for any incident we’ve had to deal with. But there are a lot of accidental portals opened during the mining process. That’s why there is always a Shadow Lord nearby, and at least a couple of Gate Masters on site at all times.”

“Okay, that sounds like a good place to start. Any chance I can go check it out?” I asked, hopeful.

“Access to the shadow obsidian mine is strictly regulated. But I will be able to take you on my next day off,” Cedros offered. “However, I must tell you that no Derakeen would choose to give away shadow obsidian stones, let alone to an off-worlder. They are far too valuable and much too dangerous in the wrong hands.”

“I do not challenge your words, but off-worlders are somehow getting their hands on them. That needs to be stopped. And that means looking at every possibility, even the most improbable ones,” I countered in a gentle tone.

“Agreed. I have faith in you, my Ejaya. I will do all in my power to see that you succeed in this endeavor.”

I smiled and playfully tapped the rounded, little bone spikes that protruded from his chin. “If you’re trying to make me like you, Cedros Qhelian, you’re doing a great job of it!”

“Good! My mission to conquer you is working.”

I chuckled and snuggled against him as he tightened his embrace and kissed my forehead.

Chapter 11

Kaida

Waking up in Cedros’s arms, naked but for my panties, was proving to be a herculean exercise in willpower. Notwithstanding his ridiculously hot body—alien though it was—the gentle but possessive way he always held me seriously messed with my girly bits. I’d spent the entire night having naughty dreams about him. And now, his stirring had awakened me right in the middle of a pretty torrid moment, leaving me every shade of horny.

Cedros rolled me onto my back. Lying on his side, his large palm resting possessively on my side, he stared at me with an unsettling intensity. My mouth went dry, and my stomach flip-flopped as I waited with great anticipation for what he would do. His fiery eyes appeared to glow as they studied my features. The complete silence only made his stance both more ominous and more thrilling. I almost expected him to bare his teeth at me and savagely sink his fangs into my throat.

He did not bare his teeth but leaned forward. With a will of their own, my lips parted, hoping for the kiss I craved with mind-boggling violence. I lifted my face towards his. To my dismay, Cedros tilted his head to the side, kissing the artery pulsing in my neck instead. He then proceeded to rub his face there and along the curve of my shoulder before following a path down to my chest.

My fingers sank into his soft mane, my breath catching in my throat as his face hovered over my left breast. Just imagining how the rough texture of his tongue would feel on my already hardening nipples had me throbbing with need. With a very slow movement, his thumb caressed the side of my stomach. His throat began to glow, the soft heat emanating from it making my skin erupt in goosebumps. Still staring at my nipple, his face so close I could feel his breath fanning over it, Cedros smiled.

He slightly turned his head to give me a sideways glance, his smile taking on a smug edge that instantly had my cheeks burning.

“You are aroused again, my Kaida. And I haven’t even touched your breasts.”

I flinched, feeling both mortified and annoyed.

Yes, genius! I’m so fucking horny I could ride your tail if not your cock. Rather than pointing out the obvious, why the hell aren’t you doing something about it?

Naturally, I said none of that out loud and reverted to a dumb human defense mechanism.

“You’re not supposed to point that out,” I said, frowning at him.

“Why not? It fills me with pride that I should arouse you,” he said matter-of-factly.

“I was just having a wet dream,” I said, hating the defensive tone of my voice. “It happens.”

His scaly eyebrows rose as his smile broadened. “Wet dreams? Does that mean erotic dreams?”

My face further reddening was all the answer he needed. He chuckled, looking overly pleased with himself.

“Were those dreams about me? About us?”

“Cedros!”

His playfulness faded, and a serious, almost stern expression settled on his features. The sudden change in his demeanor took me aback.

“What, Kaida? It is a simple question. One we both know the answer to. Why do you insist on making such a big deal out of something so simple? I aroused you. Your body and your scent aren’t so skittish about the facts. Why is it so hard for you to simply admit that you fantasized about us? I fantasize about you day and night. It flatters and honors me to know that I ignite your fire. Why do you deny me its acknowledgement? I want you, and I hope one day to make you burn for me. See? I said it, and the world didn’t end.”
