“You were going to kill me!” Jade yelled from behind, pointing a finger at Lucien.

He just smiled. “I have to protect you, Jade. That doesn’t mean I suddenly have a love for humans now. You can’t blame a guy for having some fun?”

I released my power again, sending Lucien to his knees in pain once more.

“We can talk about all of this later,” My mother interrupted. “But the King will come looking for us soon enough. We have to go.”

“Go where, exactly?” Adeline asked.

She looked back and smiled at me. “To your new kingdom, of course. We’re heading to Fearford.”
