Hidden in Snow (The ?re Murders, #1)(111)

Thank you to everyone in ?re who so generously shared their expertise and knowledge.

Fredrik Nyhlén, formerly with the ?re police and now with the customs authority, was able to tell me about the police service in the area over the past ten years.

Anders Aspholm, business area manager with SkiStar, helped me to understand how the company and the skiing facilities in ?re work.

Markus Kristoffersson and Andreas Lundin, investigating officers with the ?re police, described the local police station and the daily routine.

Anders Berge, a landowner in Ull?dalen, took me on a long snowmobile trip to look for a good place to “hide a body.”

Inger Fritzon, a teacher at J?mtland High School, told me about the school environment in ?re and J?rpen.

Thanks also to Detective Inspector Rolf Hansson, who has once again answered countless questions on police work, and Judge Cecilia Klerbro, my good friend, who gave valuable opinions on prosecution and sentencing with regard to the events in this novel. My dear friends Anette Brifalk, Helen Duphorn, and Madeleine Lyrvall have all read and commented on the manuscript during the writing process. Thank you so much!

As always I have taken certain liberties—there are no roads in ?re or J?rpen called V?stra Sadelviksv?gen or Hjortronstigen. Lydia’s house is inspired by many different beautiful homes, and the chairlifts in ?re are actually tested earlier in the morning.

I also have the greatest respect for the work that Missing People does and hope no one will be offended by the fact that I have involved the organization in my story.

I take full responsibility for any errors in the narrative.

No author is an island, and Hidden in Snow is definitely the result of fantastic teamwork. Without the support of my committed publisher, Ebba ?stberg; my good friend and developmental editor, John H?ggblom; and my outstanding and tireless editor, Lisa Jonasdotter Nilsson, this would have been a very different and much worse book. A big thank-you to all of you—it is a privilege to work with you, as it is with the super-professional Sofia Heurlin and everyone else at Ester Bonnier, plus the gang at Micael Bindefeld AB.

Thanks also to my dedicated assistant, Madeleine Jonsson, who organizes my life and makes sure I can keep my head above water.

Anna Frankl, thank you for always being there!

Finally—thank you to my beloved husband, Lennart, who read the manuscript so meticulously, and my darling children, Camilla, Alexander, and Leo. Without you nothing would matter.
