Resolution (Saviour #2)(30)

“Are you mad?” He asks.

“Yep. Well and truly pissed off.”

“Sorry.”

“No you’re not.”

“No I know, but I don’t want you to be pissed with me.”

“Well get back into bed and give me a cuddle and I might think about forgiving you.”

We spend the rest of the morning in bed as it takes a lot of loving before I can bring myself to forgive Gabe and he seems more than happy to keep apologising, so I let him.

Later we have an uneventful trip to the supermarket and restock the cupboards and I buy all that I need to make us a full on Sunday roast, I call Jo up and she comes and joins us and the three of us have a perfect Sunday, Jo and Gabe drinking wine and me sticking to water, because I just can’t face a wine.

Around six o’clock as Gabe and Jo are discussing who will win the next election; I hear the gates to the drive slide open, I look across the dining table to where Gabe is oblivious to the sound and ask him, “Are you expecting anyone Gabe? The Gates have just opened.”

He hears the worry in my voice and immediately stands from the table, I hate the sound of those gates, twice now bad things have happened after I have heard that sound, I know it’s irrational and I’m sure it will eventually wear off.

“No baby, not that.”

There is a loud banging on the front door before he can finish talking. I stand from the table too, although I have no idea why.

Gabe gestures his head towards me, “Stay here.”

“Gabe I…”

“Stay here Lauren, stop stressing.”

He kisses my cheek before he heads down the stairs as the door sounds like it’s about to come off its hinges with the persistent banging. I look across at Jo and shrug; she shakes her head at me, “Jesus Lauren, have a glass of wine and calm down will ya.”

I walk to the top of the stairs as I hear Gabe shout “What the f*ck? Dude, what are you doing here?”

He’s laughing as he speaks and I instantly relax.

“Man…Since when the f*ck did you start locking your door, you got so many women that you have to lock them out nowadays? Shit, smells good in here, you cooking something?”

“Not quite, put your bags down, come up, you staying?”

“Dude, I’m hurt, where the f*ck else would I go? I would have let myself in but your key is buried in my bag somewhere.”

I move away from the stairs and pour myself a wine as Gabe and his guest talk. It tastes horrible but I feel a bit shaken after the adrenalin rush. Gabe appears at the top of the stairs with a huge grin on his face, he looks so boyish and happy and hot, and all that pops into my head is ‘Deeelish and mine’.

His smile is infectious and I can’t help but smile expectantly back at him. Behind him appears, quite possibly the most handsome man I have ever seen. The strange thing is that my heart doesn’t leap and nothing below my waist feels the need to clench and squeeze. This man is, quite beautiful, dark olive skin, black hair and the most amazing green eyes, but these are just observations, he has no effect on me whatsoever. There is only one man who has an effect like that on me nowadays and he’s just walked over to my side, put his arm around me, pulled me into him and kissed my hair. Now I’m clenching and squeezing. I unconsciously cross my legs, then uncross them, feeling self-conscious.

“Jake, this is Lauren Day, my, my…The woman I am trying to convince to marry me…Lauren, this is Jake Curtis, my oldest mate.”

I am about to smile and say hi when Jake says, “Stop f*cking with me Wilde, who is she really?”

I raise my eyebrows and look at him, then up at Gabe, who’s looking down at me with the sexiest smile on his face and absolute adoration in his eyes. My heart skips a beat, god I love him.

“Dude seriously, you went and fell in love, for real?”

“Hi Jake, I’m Lauren, the woman Gabe thinks he wants to marry,” Jake looks between the both of us.

“Well f*ck man, you really did, you fell in love, f*ck me. Lauren, nice to meet you.”

He steps forward and gives me a kiss on the cheek as Gabe’s grip tightens around my waist, I don’t need to look, and I know his eyes are burning holes into Jake.

“Chill dude, just saying hello.”

“Hand shake would have sufficed, keep your lips to yourself Curtis.”

Well, well, Gabe has a jealous streak, and I love it.

I hear Jo clear her throat from behind me and suddenly remember my manners, “Jake this is my friend Jo.”

Jo stands from the table and walks towards Jake, looking at him like she wants to eat him. She slowly raises her hand and I’m not sure if it’s to shake his hand or stroke his cock. I look at Jake as he licks his lips and looks at Jo in much the same way, I lean into Gabe as I watch them take each other in from head to toe, I don’t think I have ever witnessed anything so sexual between two people, no talking, no touching just total eye f*cking.

“Oh f*cking great,” I hear Gabe say beside me, “this can only end one way.”

I look up at him and smile, “Dirty filthy sex?”

“Oh yeah baby, anytime, but not in front of company, let’s wait till they’ve gone.”

He grazes his teeth along my jaw and desire rolls through me from my head to my toes and sets my entire body on fire.
