Over the Edge (Bridge #3)(36)
My head was buzzing. My need bled into hers until I was blind with it. I couldn’t wait another second to have her.
I rushed back to her mouth, kissing her deeply. She wrapped around me, her silky arms and legs warm from sleep, holding me close. My cock slid through her wet folds, and my breath left me in a rush. I had to have her, now.
“Is this okay?”
She nodded, her eyelids heavy with desire.
Not wasting another second, I guided my cock into her, exhaling a shaky breath as I did. I was ready to come at the first sensation of her scorching heat gloving me. Heaven help me, I wanted her this way every time.
I was ready to spring into loving her hard. Instead, I held her there, enraptured with everything about her, the way our bodies melded and entwined like we were designed to always be this way.
Her eyes glimmered in the night, bewitching me as the air seemed to press out of my lungs. Except it wasn’t fear robbing me of air this time. It was something else entirely.
“What is it?” she murmured into the quiet night.
My heart slammed against the walls of my chest, forcing the words out. “Olivia…I think I’m falling in love with you.”
She blinked, her lips parted.
I wasn’t expecting her to say it back. I wasn’t expecting her to say it at all. Maybe I’d lost my goddamn mind in that nightmare, but I’d meant it when I said it.
She sifted her hand through my hair and traced my lips softly. “Then make love to me, Will.”
Without another word, I melded our mouths together, sealing the words with a tender kiss. When I breathed, I breathed her. When I thrust, I was making us one, fueled by an irrational need to make her believe it.
When she came, I couldn’t hold back. Her cries, the desperate way she clung to me… I followed her down into the incredible feeling, a slave to the way she came apart around me.
“I love you.” I breathed the words against her, filling her, making her mine…
Chapter Ten
OLIVIA
I still couldn’t entirely wrap my head around what had gone down last night. I’d been with two men, and one of them had professed his love to me in the wee hours of the night. Granted, Will had been inside me when he’d uttered the words, which I worried could have skewed his true feelings. The tender way he made love to me afterward made me want to believe it, though. He’d never been that way before. And while I’d grown to love the rough side of him, I couldn’t help the way my heart swelled to know his gentler side.
His confession added another string to a no-strings arrangement that he’d promised would remain uncomplicated. If he was falling for me… Where did that leave Ian in this tangle of rule-breaking desire?
I cared about Will. I couldn’t deny that, but something existed between Ian and me that I couldn’t deny either. If it was just physical, our chemistry was off the charts. If it was more… How could I let myself fall in love with Will when I was being pulled in Ian’s direction too?
My vagina had become a traitorous bitch. She wasn’t good, and she wasn’t patient. As soon as these two men had come into my life, she became constantly hungry, desperate to be filled, and she didn’t seem to care if it was Will or Ian who met the need. Maybe this was who I’d become—impulsive and unrecognizable, thoughts hazy with lust.
I was so tired of honoring the rules. Now, suddenly, nothing was out of bounds.
I contemplated all of this on a hamster wheel of sleep-deprived thoughts as I set out favors for Maya’s baby shower luncheon. Guests were due in less than a half hour, and like an idiot, I’d agreed to plan the entire event myself.
My mother had never approved of my brother’s choice, but since Maya was now his wife and about to make her a grandmother, she’d agreed to sponsor the event while never lifting a finger for it.
When she appeared in the private room I’d reserved, I knew it wasn’t to lend a helping hand.
“Olivia. I thought I might find you here early.”
She offered a wry smile that sent a wave of dread through me. The day of reckoning had arrived, and I couldn’t feel any less prepared for it. All I could hope for was mercy that she’d go easy and not want to ruin Maya’s day. I had a sinking feeling she truly didn’t care, though.
I straightened and smiled like nothing was wrong. I went to her for a hug and two air kisses like I was one of her friends in the Hamptons. When I pulled back, her tight expression morphed into a grimace.
“You look awful, Olivia. Have you been sleeping?”
I winced at the insult. “I was up late getting things ready for the shower.” I certainly wasn’t getting anywhere close to the truth.
“Well, we need to talk. I don’t appreciate you cutting me off and not returning my calls. What’s gotten into you?”
I sighed. If she only knew…
“Mom, I can’t talk about this right now. Guests are going to be showing up any minute.”
“No, we are talking about this now. I want to know what you’re going to do about Will Donovan.” She put a hand on her hip.
“Why do you care so much?” I knew why, but I wanted to hear her say it.
“He’s not good for you, and you know it.”
Regret and anger swirled in my gut. She had said the same thing about Maya when she’d come back into Cameron’s life. Vanessa hadn’t been a suitable match for Darren in my mother’s eyes, either. No one would be good enough for her children, but somehow I knew the fight for my future would be a harder one.
