“Can I get you anything?” he asks me, kissing my lips this time. “Water, juice… Anything?”

It’s my baby shower, and Cohen insisted on being here, so it’s more like a party than anything, with all our friends and family here, all spoiling the baby with gifts. We are so blessed. Sadie and Chad arrive, hand in hand, Chad carrying a sack full of gifts in the other.

Yes, a sack full.

Then again, I guess they are going to the godmother and godfather, not that I’ve told them that yet.

“Can you get me a pink cupcake?” I ask Cohen, craving the frosting.

“Of course,” he says. “Do you want some fairy bread too?”

He remembers that I love fairy bread.

“No, thank you,” I tell him, feeling all mushy inside.

He nods and leaves to get me a cupcake. I watch him until Sadie blocks my line of sight.

“Bought the whole store, did you?” I tease, as Sadie starts piling the wrapped gifts on the table.

She kisses my cheek. “You can’t expect me not to go overboard.”

Chad kisses the top of my head next. “Pregnancy looks good on you.”

I blush, waving my hand in the air. “Stop it, you. Thank you for the gifts, you didn’t have to.”

“Yes, we did,” he tells me, wrapping his arm around my best friend. I introduced the two about four years back, and they’ve been together ever since. I think my next career should be in matchmaking.

“Here you go,” Cohen says, bringing me a paper plate with not one but four cupcakes on it. He gives it to me, then says hello to Chad and Sadie.

“Are you going to eat all of those?” Sadie asks with wide eyes.

“I might.”

“Can I have one?”

“No.”

Sadie laughs, then grabs one anyway.

“That’s low, Sadie, stealing from a pregnant woman.”

“What’s yours is mine” is her quick reply.

Cohen sits down next to me, taking my free hand in his. It’s a little sticky from the icing, but he doesn’t complain. He doesn’t even let it go.

This right here, this is what love is.
