Light up the Night (Firehouse Three #2)(62)

As he dropped to one knee, there on the front walk in front of the house they shared, Everly’s hand covered her open mouth. The little velvet box in his hand opened with a slight squeak, and he spoke the one question he’d been mulling over for the past five months.

“Everly Pitts, will you marry me?”

She hesitated for one long, impossible instant, but he never worried. The yes was clear in her shining, tear-filled eyes.

“I will. Drake, I love you so much.” She reached for him, and he rose to gather her in his arms.

“I love you too, baby girl,” he whispered against her hair, and then he kissed her with everything in his heart.

She’d be his until the end of time. And that was all he’d ever wanted.

Her. Forever.
