Liability (Suncoast Society #33)(33)
It didn’t hurt that he enjoyed watching the man as he’d worked with Kim.
Stop thinking like that.
Mason was a good-looking guy. Not the Hollywood, gym rat, fake kind of good looks. The kind of good looks Cole was attracted to, a real, average person with a nice personality.
Okay, so Mason’s nice ass didn’t hurt, either.
The night in college kept coming back to mind. He knew his fantasies needed to remain firmly in the realm of fantasy. Not to get ahead of himself.
Not to do anything to screw this up for Kim. It was a relief to know that he could pass off the things he wasn’t comfortable doing to someone else more capable, who would also enjoy doing them.
Everyone would be happy.
He texted Kim.
Mason’s okay with getting together again on Saturday. Okay?
She replied faster than he’d expected.
YES!! :)
He smiled. I called that one right.
Kim’s heart raced as she stared at the phone. She knew she had a grin on her face, a silly, shit-eating grin she might be embarrassed to own up to were she not alone.
Hell, yes, she was okay with that.
She quickly texted him back. Thank you. Love you.
He replied.
Love you, too. Talk to you tomorrow. Good night.
She couldn’t stop thinking about Saturday night. It’d consumed every spare moment of her thoughts yesterday and today at work. While driving to and from work.
What they’d done Saturday night had completely opened her eyes. She got what not just Mason, but everyone had warned about going slow. It would be too damn easy to throw herself into this without a second thought.
It felt that good, that natural.
That right.
Like a missing piece had slipped into place, a connection made deep inside her soul.
No way she could go back to the way things had been before, and she hoped Cole didn’t want to, either. It was okay with her if there were things he wouldn’t want to do, as long as he was still okay with her doing them. She would do everything in her power to make sure he didn’t feel excluded, to give him every say in the process.
She didn’t want to lose him now that it looked like they’d hit a whole new level of intimacy in their relationship. Not for lack of trying on his part before now, granted. She was definitely the one dragging her feet.
That he hadn’t once belittled her for any of this, or acted disgusted, or like he was only doing it for her…that was huge.
Massive.
She used the bathroom one more time and curled up in bed. Yes, she wished she was with Cole tonight.
Or Mason.
Okay, so Mason was gay. Even better, right? That meant she could safely lust after the guy, guilt-free, and not have a heavy conscience over it.
Right?
That was her plan, in theory, at least. She didn’t even know when she’d slid into the lusting category. He was a nice guy they’d had dinner with and talked with, and then…
Then they’d played.
So, fine, she’d admit that maybe what people had warned her about in terms of getting caught up in the energy of a new play relationship might be exactly what was going on here. She got it. It made sense.
She loved Cole. She didn’t care if Cole lusted after a woman as long as he never followed up on those impulses with anything other than coming to her to release his horny energy.
Period.
She wasn’t some closed-minded, jealous woman who was insecure about how her guy felt. Cole loved her. Hell, any man who’d put up with her and her issues was definitely in love.
Closing her eyes, she tried to go to sleep as visions of Mason danced through her memory.
Of the feel of his hands on her.
The feel of his implements.
The feeling of letting go and knowing nothing bad would happen to her.
Trusting.
Maybe this was what she’d finally needed to get over her fear of letting go all the way to Cole and moving in with him, or…more.
Maybe.
Chapter Fourteen
Over the next couple of weeks, Cole took great pleasure tormenting Kim with the vibrating egg, which turned out to be none the worse for its forced hiatus. They’d already used up several sets of batteries in it. The past two Saturdays playing with Mason had opened Kim’s eyes in a way she’d never imagined possible.
She even enjoyed texting with Mason every day, making sure to call him Sir—capital S.
The Thursday after their second play date at the club, Cole texted her that morning.
Change of plans. Come to my house after work. Bring a change of clothes.
She stared at the text for a moment. She thought they were supposed to be going out with Mason for dinner.
Oookaay?
Cole’s reply told her he wouldn’t be giving her any other hints.
;)
When she texted Mason good-morning and asked about the change in plans, she knew it was a joint plan, because his reply mirrored Cole’s.
;)
What have they planned?
She didn’t know, but she was damned well looking forward to it.
Mason wasn’t there yet when she arrived a little after six, but Cole grabbed her as soon as she walked in and kissed her, hard, grabbing her by the hair.
Which she’d quickly learned over the past two weeks was a nearly instant way to drop her into subspace.
