Invincible(60)

“I want you in nothing but that damn ring everyday,” he said.

“Deal.” I smiled. “I love you, Wes.”

“I love you, Rose.”

Our lips touched. Our tongues flirted. Then Wes started to f*ck me again.

We had another good hour to go before we were done.

I turned my head and felt everything Wes had to offer. His sweaty muscles sliding against my body. His powerful chest against my breasts. His tongue and lips at my neck, leaving me tickled but way more pleasured. My left hand outstretched on the bed and gripped the sheets. I hooked my ankles around his body and pulled. I stared at the diamond ring on my finger and smiled.

It wasn’t a marriage proposal. It wasn’t any kind of proposal. It was a ring. With a little diamond in it. But Wes stole it from my hand. He slid it on my finger. He kissed me. And he whispered to me, “Sorry for trying to blow up your car…”

That’s all I needed.

Just Wes. All the time. For the rest of my life. Whether we were hiding, running, fighting, or just f*cking each other like there was no tomorrow, nothing was better than Wes.

As Wes started to come, I arched my back. I felt his hot breath on my chest and he grunted with each pulse of his body.

Yeah, I could totally get used to this…

46.

(Wes)

I pointed to my car and Rose started to walk toward it. I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to my body. “Wait.”

“Why?”

I thought about what Aton had said.

I can’t undo it right now, Wes. That’s why you have to go. Head north. It’s cold, snowy, but I have a little place. I built it for my wife. We never got a chance to share it. Take it. Nobody knows except me. I’ll be in touch sometime…

My hands slipped around Rose’s body and I held her.

I slowly started to back her up.

“Wes… what are you doing…?”

A guy came out of the restaurant. He adjusted his bow tie and then waved to me. I pointed to him and then smiled.

“Where do you want it?” he yelled.

“Around back is just fine,” I said. “Thanks, friend.”

I didn’t know the guy’s name. I didn’t give a shit. It wasn’t my business.

“Are you really making him valet your car?” Rose asked. “We’re a hundred feet away.”

I kept stepping back, over and over. “Now it’s one-ten. One-fifteen…”

“Wes, I don’t unde…”

My car exploded.

The thundering boom was followed by a swift heat. I swore the car lifted off the ground a couple feet too.

Point being - the guy behind the wheel was dead. Gone.

Aton’s family had wanted me and Rose taken out. That was what he couldn’t stop right now. That would take a little time and Aton didn’t have it. What he did have was the name of a valet driver who had been recording conversations between himself and members of his family. That valet driver was now nothing but charred… along with my car.

“Wes,” Rose said as she shivered.

“No, no,” I said. “It’s all taken care of, sweetie. That was my offering to Aton. And his…”

I turned her around to the car behind us. A black, sleek SUV. A beautiful vehicle that would take us north into the mountains to hide out for a little while. Bags in the back packed with our clothes and a bag with more money than I’d ever know how to spend.

I walked Rose to the passenger side and helped her up.

We had to move fast - people were flooding out of the restaurant to check on the fiery scene of what used to be my car.

Oh, Aton had it all worked out that I would be the assumed party in the car. That my death would spread around. The invincible fighter blown up. Then he’d work out a deal with the family, explain who was actually in the car and that I did it. Then I’d show up as a ghost to a fight and have the greatest comeback in illegal underground fighting.

That was all in time though.

I climbed into the driver’s seat and went to push the button to start the brand new SUV.

“Wait,” Rose said as she grabbed my wrist.

“What?”

“What if this is rigged?”

“What if it is?” I asked. “Then we go together. You and me.”

“You’d do that…?”

“If I’m with you, sweetie, I’m good. Alive, dead, in between. Whatever. I just want you. And nothing else.”

She put her hand on mine. She smiled a little flirty smile. Damn, my heart couldn’t take that kind of shit.

We leaned in close and our lips touched.

Together, we reached forward and touched the starter of the SUV.

We kissed, the engine kicked over to life, and there was indeed an explosion. Of an invincible romance. The beauty. The fighter. And the rest of their lives together.
