Innocence’s Series Bundle (Innocence #1-3)(45)

I know that all the time spent building myself up, all my hard work, has led me to this one simple moment. To finding this girl needing to be caught. I pull her even tighter into me, just to prove to myself this moment is real, no matter how crazy and fast it sounds. I didn't get where I am today by not going with my gut, and it’s telling me this sexy little angel is mine.

I help steady her and then reach between us with one hand, unbuttoning my trench coat. Without letting her go, I slip my jacket off and wrap it around her. She closes her eyes briefly and smiles a bit as she cuddles into my warmth. I wrap my arms around her, trying to keep the chill off her as I look down into her baby blue eyes.

She’s so petite. She only comes up to my chest, even with her tall heels on. Brushing a blonde curl away from her cheek, I look into her eyes, wanting to keep her. It's a sensation I’ve never felt before. This immediate feeling of possession towards something that isn’t mine.

Holding her chin, I lean in a little and ask her what I want to know most.

“Who do you belong to, princess?” I don’t know why I call her that, but it feels natural. That name just belongs to her. It’s just as instinctive to me as my feeling she belongs to me.

She smiles at me like her whole heart is in it and reaches up, wrapping her arms around my neck. “You.” Her little body grinds into my erection, one I hadn't even realized I’d gotten until she started to rub against me. Sex isn't something I indulge in. I’m always more worried about work, but it seems she’s woken something up, and I want her. Badly.

“Eve!” I hear someone shout, and the woman turns in my arms towards the voice. I grip her tighter thinking she might try to leave my arms.

“Found her!” someone shouts, and I look up, seeing a group of three girls coming over to us. I let out a breath when I see no men with them.

As the women approach us, I feel Eve cling to me, and I tighten my hold even more. It feels like our time is about to get cut short. Or something is trying to take her from me. I’ve caught her and I have no intention of letting her go.

“Leave it to you to wander off the three seconds we weren’t watching you,” one woman says.

“Eve?” I ask, looking down at her. She looks up at me and smiles, a small dimple showing on one cheek, making her look impossibly innocent.

Bringing my hand up, I slip off my glove and touch her soft cheek, feeling her skin on my skin. She has the softest skin I’ve ever touched. I wonder if she’s like that all over.

“What’s your name?” She tilts her head a little more, those full lips parting again, making me want to take them. I want to bite them for wandering off on her own when she was in clear need of being looked after.

I smile and let out a laugh at her playfulness. “Adam.” Yeah, I bet she could easily wrap me around her finger.

“We’re a block up, handsome. You want to walk her the rest of the way?”

Looking up, I nod to her friend, having forgotten about the rest of her group for a moment. I’m busy getting lost in her. I keep my arm around Eve as she walks, not wanting to sever our connection.

“I’ve had a few cocktails, but you are very handsome,” Eve says, and it makes me smile. She agrees with her friend, but when she calls me that, it feels different. I like it from her lips. I want her to think I’m handsome. I want her to want me like I want her.

“Thank you, princess. Is that why you were asking for help with your G-spot?”

One of her friends ahead of us laughs and points to the bar we’re passing. Above the door are flashing neon letters: G-spot.

It looks like a fancy club, and Eve has no reason to be going in there now. The night is early and she’s already pretty drunk.

“Let me take you home,” I coax her. If she goes in there, she’ll only make herself sick drinking more. I’d have to follow her, make sure she’s okay, and she’d likely become annoyed with me every time I’d grab a drink out of her hand, and then she probably wouldn't care to see me again.

“You coming home with me?” she teases, batting her eyelashes at me, almost like a young girl begging her daddy for something. Her lips pout a bit. It turns me on and pisses me all off at once. I want her, but I don’t like that she so easily invited me home without even knowing me. Unless she’s feeling what I’m feeling.

“I’ll take you home.” I lean down so my mouth is close to hers. “And kiss you goodnight if you’re a good girl.” At my words I see something sparkle in her eyes.

She licks her lips, the tip of her tongue brushing against mine. The simple action makes me groan. “That’s not being good,” I tell her, and she gives me a half smile.

“I’ll be good. I just wanted a taste.” She bites her lip, making me think she has no intention of being good at all.

“Where does she live?” I look up at the women she’s with.

“She’s staying with me tonight,” the one with short black hair says, eyeing me. She looks a bit drunk herself but rattles off the address.

“I have a key,” Eve adds. I clench my jaw, wanting to snap at both of them. That was way too easy. It only makes it clearer that Eve needs someone to look after her.

“Come,” I tell her, pulling her to the edge of the sidewalk. I hear her friends laugh as they go into the club, leaving me alone with her. I both hate and love it.
