“I know exactly what you mean.”

On the walk back, Lindsey looks haunted, and I take her hand, tugging her to a stop. “Hey, is that why you decided to stop after just two years?” I ask her, and she gives me a look. “You know, school. You still don't know yet what you want to do?”

“A little like that. When I finished school, I was totally lost. I mean, I wasn't sure what was next. Seeing that you've got at least the next seven years kinda planned out is a little better than me.”

I sigh, nodding. “I guess. Still, I wonder if I'm missing something by not going to a regular school. Sure, I've got a job after I graduate, but in some ways, I feel like I'm going to come out of that school and not fit in well with civilian life.”

Lindsey laughs in understanding. “Trust me, I know what you mean.”

We get to Madison Square, and after taking our seats, I get to sit back and enjoy my first NHL game in years. “When I was a little kid, my dad took me to see the Red Wings once a season,” I tell Lindsey as the teams do their warm-ups. “This is a lot of fun. Brings back memories.”

“You're welcome. Now which team do we cheer for?”

I look around and notice a lot of Rangers jerseys on the fans nearby. “I'd say New York. Might be safer.”

The game starts, and Lindsey proves herself an authentic hockey fan, cheering at the right points, getting into the game, even yelling at the players when they screw up. “Come on, don't let him get inside like that, you *!” she screams at one point before realizing what she yelled. She looks over, wincing. “Sorry. Not very ladylike.”

“But funny,” I reply, putting my arm around her shoulders again. “And right.” We enjoy the whole game, and when the final score ends up being three-one Rangers, we cheer along with everyone else.

“Oh, I loved that hit that they laid on Crosby in the third period!” Lindsey says as we make our way back to the hotel, grinning before giving me a look. “You never said. What position did you play?”

“I was a defenseman,” I tell her, smiling. “Usually, I liked playing left side, because a lot of the teams near us loved coming from that direction. Shutting them down was a rush, and laying guys out was even more fun.”

Lindsey smiles, her eyes sparkling. We reach the hotel, and I’d love nothing more than to take her back to my room, but she was pretty insistent from the get go. I’d rather not f*ck this night up.

“I had a great night,” Lindsey says, turning into my arms. “And I can read in your eyes what you're thinking.”

“What am I thinking?” I ask, and Lindsey raises an eyebrow. Of course, I'm thinking about tearing her clothes off. Who the hell wouldn’t? “Okay, besides that, what am I thinking?”

“You're wondering if you should push your luck because you don't know if you're going to get another chance,” Lindsey says, stepping closer and putting her arms around my neck. I lean my head down, and we kiss. Her lips are soft and sensuous, and when my tongue traces her lips, she’s happy to let our kiss deepen, my arms pulling her closer. My cock's tenting in my jeans, and I know I’m going to have a huge case of blue balls as she pulls away. “Woah there,” she says. “Take it easy.”

I nod. She’s not ready. “I can dig it. Still, one more before we call it a night?”

I pull her in with a little force, and we're kissing again, deepening until we're making out in the hallway, my hand drifting on its own to cup and squeeze her ass. Lindsey moans into my mouth, and when we break the kiss, her breath is shaky, which at least helps me feel a bit better about the raging hard on in my jeans right now. At least she’ll have to go to her room hot and bothered too. “We’d better stop before I ask you to bring me to your room.”

“That’s what I’m going for,” I rasp, trying to control myself. I remember the three rules of the weekend safety brief. Don't drink and drive. No glove, no love. And only yes means yes. “You care if I leave the connecting door between our rooms unlocked?”

Lindsey shakes her head and takes a small step back. “Go ahead . . . but I'm not saying I'm going to be taking advantage of it. Good night, Aaron.”

Lindsey retreats into her room, and I groan as my cock twitches. I know that if I'm not in my room relieving the tension in about thirty seconds, I really am going to have a case of blue balls. “Good night, Lindsey.”

Chapter 4

Lindsey

I'm sitting at my desk, but in my mind, I'm nowhere near my work. Instead, I'm thinking about last Sunday afternoon, parked in a turnout just off the Palisades Parkway near Bear Mountain State Park with Aaron, the two of us making out like a pair of horny teenagers since the drive out from the city took us less time than we expected. He didn't have to be back to post before seven, and since we had an extra hour to kill, we put it to good use.

The feel of his hands on my waist, his lips tracing my jawline when I arched my neck . . . it was heavenly. We didn’t go beyond there, and it’s a good thing. It’ll make it that much harder to shut it down. He’s a cadet, and we shouldn’t be seeing one another. What the hell was I thinking, not only continuing to ride with Aaron, but then when he asked me out, instead of just saying no, we end up on an overnight trip to New York City?
