Distraction (Club Destiny #8)(37)

“Sarah, seriously. You can’t possibly want to go with him.”

“I do.” She sighed.

“Please,” Bill begged and Dylan rolled his eyes. The guy had no pride whatsoever.

“Bill—”

“Just one night,” Bill said pleadingly. “That’s all I need. I’ll show you how much fun you can have.”

“With my clothes off?” Sarah snapped.

“Well… It’s just…” Bill hedged, clearly coming up empty.

Dylan chuckled. He couldn’t help himself.

Sarah glared up at him and he immediately sobered. “Sorry,” he muttered, his smile twitching his lips again.

“Last chance, Sarah.”

Dylan met Bill’s gaze, narrowing his eyes in warning. The guy needed to get a grip. It was evident Sarah didn’t want to be here with him. Or maybe it was the club in general. He wouldn’t know until they sent Bill on his way and he got the opportunity to talk to her.

“Bye, Bill,” she said softly.

Not waiting for Bill to drop to his knees and embarrass himself more by begging, Dylan turned and led Sarah toward an empty table on the far side of the room, away from the glass enclosures, where some very interesting scenes were playing out right before their eyes.

“I can’t believe he brought me here,” she said with a huff.

Dylan allowed his eyes to rake over her beautiful body. That gold dress was likely the hottest thing he’d ever seen. Or perhaps she was the hottest thing wearing it. Then he remembered what Bill had said.

“Bill bought that dress?”

Sarah shook her head. “He thinks he did. I wouldn’t let him pay for it.”

Well, then. He wouldn’t shred the thing when he took it off her later.

“This was his surprise?” he inquired, waving a waitress over. Surely the guy hadn’t thought dragging the woman to a fetish club was a good way to get into her panties. It might work for some women, but Sarah…? No way.

After Sarah was seated, Dylan moved a chair closer, his back to the wall so he could keep an eye on what was going on around them.

“Yes. The bastard.” Sarah rolled her eyes. “It was a surprise.”

Dylan smirked. Yep, the guy was officially a douche.

“Why are you smiling?” she asked.

“I’m just tryin’ to imagine why this would be the place he brought you to.”

The instant the words were out, he could practically see her defenses fall into place.

“I’m not a prude!” she exclaimed.

Leaning closer, Dylan held her gaze, keeping his voice low as he said, “Darlin’, I wasn’t thinkin’ any such thing. I know firsthand, remember?”

A pretty blush suffused her face and her big blue eyes darted away.

“Drink?” Dylan asked Sarah when the waitress appeared.

Sarah turned to face the woman. “Yes, please. I’ll take…” Her eyes shot to Dylan’s glass. “I’ll have what he’s having. Only make mine a double.”

When the waitress met his eyes, Dylan grinned. “Make that two.”

“Yes, sir. Two 7-Ups coming right up,” she said kindly and then sauntered off.

Sarah’s mouth fell open.

“I’m sober, remember?” he told her, proud for the first time in a long time that he could actually say that.

“That’s… Wow. That’s right. For how long? If you don’t mind me asking.”

“Three years.”

He noticed that Sarah kept her eyes from roaming around the room, and he wondered if she was embarrassed to be there or embarrassed by what she saw. There were some naked bodies now, several couples, a few threesomes, one foursome if he wasn’t mistaken, all in various sexual positions.

“Not your thing?” he asked, finishing what was left of his drink while they waited.

“I don’t know,” she told him, lifting her eyes to his. “I don’t even know what this place is.”

“It’s a fetish club,” he explained.

“So, no holds barred?”

“Sort of. As long as the play is safe, sane, and consensual.”

“I didn’t know these places even existed.”

“So what bothers you about it? The fact that there are naked people? Or that they’re fucking in public?”

Her sharp inhale was cute.

“Some people get off on being watched,” he explained.

“I kinda figured that out on my own.”

“Do you watch porn, Sarah?” he asked bluntly. Figuring this would possibly be his one and only opportunity to talk to Sarah like this, he might as well ask the questions he was most interested in.

“Yes,” she snapped. “Of course.”

He could tell she was lying. “What kind of porn?”

She shrugged. “I don’t know. Regular porn.”

Dylan laughed.

“Are you laughing at me?” she questioned, her heated gaze pinned on his face.

“Nope. Just curious.”

“About?”

Sarah seemed genuinely interested in the answer, and Dylan had the sudden urge to touch her. Getting to his feet, he walked around the table to stand behind her. Swiveling her seat so that she was facing the room directly, he leaned over her shoulder and put his mouth near her ear.
