Crash and Burn (Back Down Devil MC #2)(33)

Another one-two punch to the face took Deck to his knees. Landon grabbed him by the hair and pulled.

“Are you done?” Landon asked.

“Done… please… my…”

“Fuck you.”

Landon spit into Deck’s mouth as he tried to speak. He then hit Deck and sent him to the ground. Right then, the fight was over. The crowd erupted in cheers for Landon and Back Down Devil for taking the night by storm. Landon wasn’t done though. His feelings for Avery had him on such an edge. He spotted one of Deck’s hands on the ground, rings on his fingers, and it gave Landon an idea. He reached down and took off one of the rings and put it on his right hand. Deck’s crew was moving through the crowd, but they weren’t there in time.

Landon started to unleash on Deck, punch after punch to his face, with the thick ring on his finger. Deck screamed as blood sprayed all around. The crowd grew silent. Landon saw Deck’s guys make it to the circle yet he still didn’t stop punching. One of the guys tackled Landon away and Landon started swinging at that guy. It had become chaos. Landon then spotted Gaige, Jace, and Nate ripping the guy off him and helping to keep the brawl from becoming deadly.

“Fuck off,” Nate yelled.

“Fuck you guys. This fight was called…”

“He f*cking wore rings,” Gaige said. “It’s only fair…”

Jace helped Landon to his feet.

“It’s done,” Landon said. He took the ring off his finger and threw it at the lifeless body on the ground. “Fucking done.”

Back Down Devil MC started to cheer and whistle, bringing the crowd back to life. Deck was lifted by two of his guys and carried out of the circle and through the crowd. Landon was in between Gaige and Jace as they walked through the crowd. When they reached Miller, he grabbed Landon by the shoulders and threw him to the table.

“What the f*ck was that about?” Miller yelled. “You almost cost us…”

“I didn’t,” Landon said. “It’s fair now. Look at my f*cking face. I took those shots for the MC.”

“Hey, let’s take a breath,” Gaige said.

“Where’s Griffin?” Miller asked. “Get the f*cking money and get the f*ck out of here. I want a meeting tonight. You hear me? Tonight.”

Miller slammed his beer bottle off the table, letting it shatter. Landon didn’t move, still catching his breath. He looked up again and saw Avery standing with Emily. The look in Avery’s eyes was fear. He had officially scared her.

The two women were then guided down from the ladder.

Gaige punched Landon in the shoulder. “Come on, bro. Let’s get you cleaned up and out of here. Don’t worry about Miller.”

“I don’t give a shit about him,” Landon said. “I did my job.”

Landon stood and walked to Avery. Something bold rushed through his veins. He took her by the waist and lifted her, carrying her to the back of the crowd until she hit a wall. Her hands gripped his flexed, sweaty muscles as he held her tight.

“Landon…”

“Avery…”

Avery looked surprised. “You said my name again…”

He pressed himself against Avery, against the building, and kissed her. She touched his face without worry or question. The sweat and blood smeared across his face as Avery moved her hands. Landon was never so turned on in all his life. He wanted to tear Avery’s clothes off right then and there and f*ck her against that wall.

But the kiss came to an end. Landon’s nose was against Avery’s. He was still breathing heavy, but it wasn’t from the fight. Fights didn’t work him up like this. Fights were second nature. All this… this shit… this was something different.

For the first time ever, Landon was actually falling for someone.

seventeen.

There was a party to be had, but Landon wanted nothing to do with it. He climbed on his motorcycle and Avery sat behind him. Gaige and Nate spotted him and rushed to his side.

“Wait for us,” Gaige said. “You shouldn’t ride alone.”

“Don’t do this because of me,” Landon said. “I did my job here. I have to get out of here.”

“We’ll all go,” Nate said.

Landon looked back. Miller and Blaine were standing shoulder to shoulder. Miller looked pissed off. Landon gave a nod and Miller raised his chin. The silent conversation was more than enough for Landon.

“I’m going,” he said.

“We’re riding with you,” Gaige said. “Then we’ll come back to clean up and clear out. A lot of people want to see you though, bro.”

“Fuck them. Fuck everyone.”

“Careful, man,” Nate said. “Things are tense as it is around here.”

“Which is why I’m leaving. I won my fights. The MC is getting paid. We all move forward.”

Landon started the motorcycle. The crowd made an opening for him (and for Gaige and Nate who hurried to follow). The crowd cheered and touched Landon as he wore his leather cut with nothing under it. He had used his t-shirt to wipe his face from the sweat and blood.

Once out of the lot and down the alley, Landon took off. His body ached for Avery. Between his legs he was stiff and it wasn’t going to go away. He couldn’t do what he did in the shower again. Jacking himself proved nothing. It felt good. He came. But the true urge never went away.
